Paul Ménagé
Born on 03/06/1997 in Paris
Director, producer, and entrepreneur
Born with visual-spatial dyspraxia,
a disorder affecting motor coordination
and spatial representation,
Paul grew up learning to think
and create differently.
From a very young age,
he became passionate about magic —
not for the trick itself,
but for what it demanded:
understanding how to assemble everything
so the audience would no longer doubt
what they were seeing.
“Magic taught me
that a film must be conceived like a trick,
with its story and its characters.”
Trained in 2016 by Dominique Duvivier,
a major figure in contemporary magic
and founder of Le Double Fond in Paris.
After high school,
he joined the Higher School of Audiovisual Production
(École Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle) in Paris.
A year later,
he chose to follow his own path
and founded his production company,
Les Films à Paul.
With it, he directed in 2018
Sans dire au revoir (Without Saying Goodbye) —
a short film without dialogue,
exploring family through the lens of loss.
Selected for the Short Film Corner
at the Cannes Film Festival,
the film won Best International Short (0–15 min)
at the MIFF Awards in Milan,
as well as prizes in Beverly Hills (Best Actor)
and Milledgeville, USA
(Best International Film, Best Cinematography).
Encouraged by this recognition,
Paul began working in luxury advertising —
in jewelry and haute couture —
where he refined his eye
and his sense of visual storytelling.
In 2022,
he financed and directed
Words to My Love,
a period film shot on 35mm film,
adapted from the 1906 poem
by Renée Vivien,
a leading figure of Symbolist literature
and of the fight for women’s emancipation.
As Forbes France wrote:
“For his cinematic adaptation
of Renée Vivien’s Words to My Love,
Paul Ménagé chose to infuse his art
with the magic of a true period film.”
Winner of the Stage 32 Short Film Contest,
the film was screened in London
(Raindance Film Festival)
and in Los Angeles,
at the HollyShorts Film Festival,
an Oscar®-qualifying event.
It premiered at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre,
one of the most iconic cinemas in the world.
Awarded in Dubai
(Best Human Rights Film, Best Cinematography,
Best Composer, Best Original Music)
and in Houston (Best Human Rights Film),
Words to My Love became
a vibrant tribute to women’s freedom
and to poetry.
Later acquired by ShortsTV,
the international channel dedicated
to Oscar®-qualified short films.
In November 2025,
alongside one of his former professors,
Paul founded Three to Six Years Old!,
a mobile app designed for parents
of children aged 3 to 6 —
created to nurture connection,
support learning differently,
and bring families together,
just as his own did for him.
